Dr. Paul Arthur Schilpp was born in Germany. He came to the U.S. in 1916 at the age of 16 to study at Baldwin Wallace College. He went on to earn degrees from Northwestern University, Garrett Theological Seminary and Stanford University. He became widely known as a scholar and teacher, holding teaching positions in the philosophy departments of Northwestern University and Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
